Identification , definition and assessment of cooperation schemes between RANs – final deliverable

This document is the final report on the definition of the inter-RAN cooperation schemes, initiated in the deliverable D4.1. It includes the mechanisms and techniques for the efficient cooperation among heterogeneous radio access networks (RANs), with focus on the cooperation between the WINNER RAN and legacy RANs specifically GSM/GPRS/UMTS and IEEE 802.11. The report has three main parts. The first part is the final description of the cooperation mechanisms, namely, Mobility management, Admission control, Congestion/Load control and QoS based management, in this part are included the triggers for cooperation mechanisms and the advanced techniques that can improve network performance: Common RRM and Location based vertical handover. The second one is the assessment of the cooperation schemes and the last one is the definition of the interRAN cooperation architecture proposal, including network and RRM entities.
